Half way
In the imortal words of Bon Jovi; "we're half way there..." or, as the Grand Old Duke of York once noted; 'when they were only halfway up they were neither up nor down...'
We made it half way. Two weeks ago, we saw our baby. The midwife put a jelly covered plastic probe on my stomach and we saw a granular, slowly morphing, black and white image of our baby. Seeing it, and hearing its heart beat, is the most amazing humbling experience. It is also decidedly odd. I am growing a human being in my stomach. My body consists of 2 brains, 4 arms, 4 legs and two sets of genitalia. Pregnancy is weird.
We didnt find out the gender at the scan for numerous reasons. We like the idea of it being a surprise, but it will also encourage us to prepare for our baby in a less 'Pink' or 'Blue' way (much more on that in another post)
Hmm, what else...
My bump is finally starting to show.
I am loving my early nights and am still rapturously in love with my bed.
We have definite fetal movement, guys.
I have an unusally healthy blood count.
The baby is currently about 28cm long, almost the size of a 30 cm ruler! Whoa.
My always constant vinegar love is reaching new heights.
Tea and toast brought to me every morning makes me think I should get knocked up more often.
My mister has taken to calling me Wolverine, on account of my freakish sense of smell and weirdly fast growing hair and nails.
I dreamed I gave birth to a seal. (Thank you Frozen Planet)
I think that is all...
That was probably very boring for you all. But it's here for posterity. For posterity!

Buuuuummmmmmmppppppppp!!!!!! X
ReplyDeleteGlad someone else is having weirdo preggy dreams! Your bump is lovely!

Not boring - as someone who's never been pregnant, it's interesting to hear a bit about it (and also novel to not be the one saying how weird pregnancy is; I usually manage to offend the mother-to-be with that).
ReplyDeleteOh, and that's a lovely photo!
Beautiful photo!
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing such a wonderful journey with us and whishing you the best with everything!
*wishing! not whishing
ReplyDeleteNot boring at all. I did let out a wee laugh about you giving birth to a seal mind...ouch.

Ah, a bump! Definitely a bump! Hope you are getting seats on trains everywhere you go and that you are not throwing up anymore :)
ReplyDelete30 cm sounds tall. Is that tall for a baby half way? Seal dream is also a bit weird. But I have strange dreams too. Glad everything is going well.
ReplyDeleteOh this makes me all kinds fo excited to think it might ever happen to me (fingers crossed) so it is not boring, even for non pregnant types (and I love that you dreamed you gave birth to a seal)
ReplyDeleteWe're keeping it a surprise, or should I say everyone except my OH is - he is the only person who knows the flavour!
ReplyDeleteDid you find that 13 weeks took forever to get to but 20 weeks snuck up on you all of a sudden?
love Amy x
You gave birth to a seal? That is a crazy dream! ;) But yay for halfway there! It is rather strange to think that you have two brains at the moment! (Also loving the idea of keeping the sex a surprise... yellow is the way to go I say ;))
ReplyDeleteLovely photo! It sounds like a very exciting time.
ReplyDeleteGood on you for not finding out what 'colour' the baby is. Mr P and I are adamant that when it comes to our turn we don't want to know what it is. I've even said that if you can tell what it is from the scan picture, I want it put in an envelope and hidden until the baby arrives! x
Congratulations!! That picture is beautiful!! :)
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! I had no idea, I have been a bad blog reader of late, but I'm so happy to read (and see) this today :) I actually just logged on to get that banana cake recipe...
ReplyDeleteGo two brained, four legged lady...happy baby growing, you are ace x
Actually, I'm totally on the wrong blog, I bloomin did know you were preggars. I feel like such an idiot now, ha!
ReplyDeleteHurrah hurrah! You look really well with it Han! and yes. THERE IS A WHOLE SMALL PERSON IN YOU. It is frickin weird but it's frickin cool too. :)
